Musselroe Bay is located to the North and to the West of Mt William National Park. The Musselroe Bay conservation area is popular with birdwatchers, with access to the North-West of the camping area via the Cape Portland Road (C844) from Gladstone. The Eastern section, to the north of the Mt William National Park, is accessed via the C843 and C845 roads. Musselroe Bay is app. 151 kilometres, or just over 2-hours’ drive, North East of Launceston. The Musselroe Bay campground is located in the Eastern part of the Mt William National Park, some 25 kilometres northeast of the town of Gladstone. There is signposted access along the C845 Road, 8 kilometres north of Mt William National Park. At this location, there is a self-registration and information area. The Musselroe Bay camping area offers a number of open sites, and also some with shelter. There is a boat ramp located close by, and the campground is suitable for motorhomes, campervans and caravans. Existing fire sites must be used. Carry own freshwater - there are no facilities at Musselroe Bay, with Gladstone being the nearest town where basic supplies can be purchased. The free camping at Musselroe Bay, Mt William National Park is suited to big rigs. This remote coastal conservation area north of Mt William National Park offers great camping - the access road is 100 metres past the track to Top Camp in the national park. Maximum stay is 4 weeks, you must carry your own firewood and drinking water.
