The campsite Lime Bay Tasmania is suitable for tents and caravans, however, please note that campsites can't be booked. Facilities include toilets, limited picnic tables, and fireplaces. You must carry your own water and firewood. Strictly NO DOGS. As the area is prone to fire bans at short notice during warmer summer months, a fuel stove is recommended for cooking. Lime Bay State Reserve is a large and attractive 1300 ha secluded reserve consisting of sheltered beaches and eucalypt plantations at the end of Coal Mines Rd - the north-west tip of Tasman Peninsula, the home of Port Arthur. Nearby towns include Nubeena, White Beach, and Eaglehawk Neck. There are 2 beaches close to this campsite being Lime Bay which is immediately adjacent to the campsite and Lagoon Beach which is on Sloping Island. This site can be reached by an easy walk. Close to the campsite, you will find what remains of the 1833 coal mines where convicts housed at Port Arthur were sent for punishment. Lime Bay campground is app. 55 km southwest of the small fishing town of Dunalley. To get here turn off the A9 Arthur Highway and take the C341 from Premaydena, through Saltwater River. See also: Waterfall Bay Walk: Coal Mines Track: Camping Shipsterns Bluff This attractive grassed campsite is app. 4 kilometres beyond the historic mining site at Limestone Bay and is the starting point for the scenic walk to Greens Point cliffs and Lagoon Beach. Gas/fuel stoves are recommended, fire bans can occur at short notice during summer. You must carry your own firewood, drinking water, and all food - there are no close services other than fuel and basic supplies at nearby Preymadena. To get to the Lime Bay campground, take the C341 from Premaydena through Saltwater River. No Dogs allowed. Prices are $13 per night for one or two people, $5 per night for an extra adult, $2.50 per night for an extra child age 5 – 17 (younger children are free) - $16 per night for a family of two adults and three children. ​​The Lime Bay State Reserve campground is spectacularly surrounded by crescent-shaped beaches and sits on a sandy shelf just above the waterline with beautiful views across Norfolk Bay. Facilities include four pump-flush toilets and camp fireplaces - fire restrictions are common in Summer and fuel stoves are recommended for cooking. Generators are permitted but must be switched off by 10pm. All other noise, including music, must stop by 10pm. ​Camping is self-registration; there is no staff permanently on-site. Please come prepared with the correct money to pay camping fees in the self-registration box. Lime Bay, like most great campgrounds in Tasmania, can be busy during long weekends, over Christmas and the New Year through January, over Easter, and on school holidays.
