Teds Beach Campground is of three free camping areas in the Southwest National Park, Strathgordon Lake Pedder Tasmania. The others are Edgar Campground and Huon Campground, both of which are accessed off Scott's Peak Road, with the turnoff some 43 kilometres before Ted's Beach and the small township of Strathgordon. Teds Beach Campground is accessible via sealed Gordon River road near Strathgordon. There is a Boat ramp, toilets, non-treated drinking water, picnic facilities, free electric barbecues, and shelter. Strictly fuel stoves only. There is no charge to camp at Teds Beach, and the area is generally not suited to tent-based camping, although there are 1 or 2 very small areas where you may successfully pitch your tent. Tent camping isn't really recommended, as the ground is hard and the conditions can be very harsh. We recommend camping in a campervan, camper-trailer, motorhome or caravan. There is no charge to camp at Ted's Beach campground. Teds Beach campground is located on the edge of Lake Pedder, app. 3 kilometres before Strathgordon, at the north-western end of beautiful Lake Pedder. The area is well signposted, and the campsite is immediately off the main road. An upper section is mostly level but doesn't have lake views; the remainder of the campground has varying views over the lake but is sloped. NO DOGS are allowed in National Parks in Tasmania. Please note there is no mobile phone coverage in the part of Tasmania. Please respect this pristine environment, and leave no trace. The best location is to drive your vehicle carefully onto Ted's Beach, and well back from the water's edge. A valid National Parks Pass is required and must be clearly displayed. The area is patrolled by Rangers and fines may be issued if you don't have a valid pass. A great feature of camping at Lake Pedder is the amazing location and the incredible views across Lake Pedder from Ted's Beach campground. There are 2 other campsites in this general part of Tasmania, described below and with links to more detailed information.
